PokeBonk controls: every key, button and setting
Updated
Play PokeBonk nowPokeBonk controls on a keyboard are WASD to move (the arrow keys always move too), the mouse for the camera, Space to jump, Left Shift to slide, R for your Ultimate and E to interact. Right click locks a target, Q switches between auto and manual aim, M opens the big map and P or Esc pauses. Every action can be moved to another key in Settings, Keys, apart from a few reserved keys, and controllers and touch screens are supported. This page lists all the default PokeBonk controls from the game’s own key settings in version 0.8.18.
Default PokeBonk controls: keyboard and mouse
| Action | Default key | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Move forward / back / left / right | W / S / A / D | The arrow keys always move as well |
| Camera | Mouse | Tune it in Settings, Controls |
| Jump | Space | Hold to glide if your Pokémon flies |
| Slide | Left Shift | In the air it becomes a dive |
| Interact | E | Also throws the Poké Ball at a fainted Pokémon |
| Ultimate | R | |
| Lock target | Right click | |
| Auto/manual aim | Q | Switches aiming mode |
| Auto-run | T | |
| Big map | M | Hold Tab instead to see the map without pausing |

| Pause | P | Esc always pauses too |
| Refresh / Skip / Banish | F / X / Z | Level-up screen only |

Two keys do extra jobs. On the level-up screen, Tab opens View my team, which shows your moves, items, vitamins and stats without closing the choice. In menus, Enter and the number keys 1 to 4 pick options.
How to rebind PokeBonk controls
You can rebind any of the PokeBonk controls to a different key in a few clicks:
- Open Settings and choose the Keys tab (“Change keys and buttons”).
- Click the box next to the action you want to change.
- Press the new key, or a mouse button (middle, right or side buttons). Esc cancels.
- If another action already uses that key, the two actions swap.
- Use Reset to go back to the default PokeBonk controls. If a key seems to do nothing, you may have swapped it onto another action; check the Keys tab or press Reset.
A few keys are reserved and cannot be rebound: Esc (pause), Enter and 1 to 4 (menu choices) and Tab. If you try, the game says “That key is reserved: Esc pauses, Enter and 1-4 pick in menus”. The arrow keys keep moving you whatever you choose for WASD.
Patch 0.7.0 fixed two PokeBonk controls problems: rebound keys not saving, and WASD not working in Firefox. If either happened in an older session, reload the page to get the current version.
PokeBonk controls on a controller
PokeBonk reads a standard controller. With one connected, the Settings menu shows these PokeBonk controls for the pad and two extra options.
| Action | Default button |
|---|---|
| Jump (hold to glide) | A |
| Slide (in the air: dive) | B or LT |
| Interact | X |
| Ultimate | Y or RT |
| Lock target | RB |
| Auto/manual aim | LB |
| Pause | Start |
| Zone map | Select |
| Camera | Right stick |
| Zoom | D-pad |
In menus: D-pad or stick to move, A to select, B to go back, LB and RB to switch tabs. To rebind a button, open Settings, Keys with the controller connected, press a box and then the button; Start cancels. “Confirm in menus” can be set to a different button from Jump. The controller-only settings are vibration (on a hit and on your Ultimate) and the dead zone, from 5% to 40% with 15% as the default; raise it if your character or camera moves by itself.
PokeBonk controls on mobile and touch screens
On a phone or tablet, the game switches to touch controls by itself. If it does not, go to Settings, Controls, Touch controls and choose Touch (or Keyboard and mouse to switch back); the choice is saved on that device. Touch players also get a fixed joystick option, which keeps the stick in the bottom left, and a button size slider. Our mobile guide covers the touch PokeBonk controls in more detail.
PokeBonk controls for aim, camera and Ultimate
- Aiming: Auto aims at the closest enemy. Manual aims toward the camera. Q switches between them during a run.
- Camera: mouse sensitivity from 0.2 to 3, invert Y, field of view from 60° to 100° (70° by default) and camera distance, which the mouse wheel also changes.
- Auto Ultimate: with this one of the PokeBonk controls switched on, your Ultimate fires by itself as soon as it is charged and enemies are near. Holding the Ultimate key also casts it the moment it charges, so you can play either way.
These PokeBonk controls are the defaults in version 0.8.18. Catching Pokémon is covered in the unlock guide, and starter advice is on the builds page. If the PokeBonk controls feel slow to respond, the lag guide covers performance settings.
