Privacy policy

PokeBonk.gg ("we", "this site") is an unofficial fan site about the browser game PokeBonk. This policy explains what happens to your data when you visit. The short version: we don't run accounts, we don't ask for your personal details, and the game itself comes from a different website.

What we collect

• No accounts and no forms. You can't sign up here, and there is nothing to fill in.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the page you requested, so the site can be delivered and protected from abuse. We don't use this data to identify you.
• Settings in your browser. If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage. If you dismiss the "turn your phone sideways" tip, that is saved in session storage. Neither is sent to us.
• Email. If you write to us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply.

The embedded game (pokebonk.com)

PokeBonk is made by its developer, Charcher, and runs on pokebonk.com. Nothing from pokebonk.com loads on this site until you press Play. After that, your browser connects directly to pokebonk.com inside an embedded frame. That site may receive your IP address and set its own cookies or local storage, for example to save game progress. Those are controlled by pokebonk.com, not by us, and fall under their policies.

Availability check

When you press Play, your browser first asks our own server whether the official site currently allows being shown inside this page. To answer, our server requests the public home page of pokebonk.com (at most about once every 10 minutes, and the result is shared by all visitors). That request comes from our server, not from your browser, and contains no information about you.

Gameplay video (YouTube)

The home page shows a gameplay video from YouTube. Until you press its play button, the page only draws a placeholder and nothing is requested from YouTube. When you press play, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. From then on YouTube (Google) may receive your IP address and set cookies or similar storage under Google's Privacy Policy.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, an open-source analytics tool, on our own self-hosted server (analytics.trynanobanana.io) to count visits. It sets no cookies and does not store your IP address or any other personal data. It records aggregated statistics only: which pages are viewed, the referring site, browser, operating system, device type and country.

Besides page views, it counts three clicks: pressing Play on the game, opening the game in fullscreen (with whether the browser's fullscreen or our full-screen view was used), and playing the gameplay video (with the video's ID). Each event also records the page language. We use these numbers only to see how the site is used.

Advertising

This site does not show ads today. We may show ads in the future, for example through Google AdSense. If we do:

• Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
• You can turn off personalised ads in Google's Ad Settings and learn how Google uses data in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
• Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent before any advertising cookies are set, and can change that choice at any time.

We will update this policy before ads go live.

Children

This site is a general-audience fan site. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children, and the site has no features for submitting it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you can ask what data we hold about you, ask us to delete it, or object to how it's used. Because we don't keep personal data beyond emails you send us, most requests will concern those emails. Write to us and we'll handle it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
