Damage taken: less from
- Steel ×0.8
- Fire ×0.8
- Water ×0.8

Damage you take is limited to between ×0.5 and ×1.6, so these numbers can differ from the attack values on the type chart.
From the game's data files, version 0.8.13. Not play-tested.
PokeBonk Wartortle is the middle stage of the Water line. This PokeBonk Wartortle page covers what changes when Squirtle evolves: the second Ultimate tier, the stat jump and the long gap until Blastoise. The numbers come from the game’s files as of version 0.8.13. PokeBonk.gg is an unofficial fan site, and the official game at pokebonk.com always has priority.
PokeBonk Wartortle at a glance
- Pokédex number 8, type Water, stage 2 of 3. PokeBonk Wartortle sits between Squirtle and Blastoise, so it is where the Water starter spends the middle of a run.
- Base stats: HP 59, Attack 63, Defense 80, Sp. Atk 65, Sp. Def 80, Speed 58 (total 405). Every stat is 15 or 16 points above Squirtle.
- The family kit stays Water Gun, Bubble, Rapid Spin and Hydro Pump.
Tidal Wave, the tier 2 Ultimate
For PokeBonk Wartortle the Ultimate name follows your current form, so PokeBonk Wartortle casts Tidal Wave instead of Shell Whirlpool. The game describes a giant wave that spreads out from you in a circle, drags everyone along and leaves rain. The rain matters because Water statuses connect to other reactions: the glossary says a Wet enemy can be frozen at once by Ice and prepares the Electrocuted reaction. Whether Tidal Wave itself applies Wet is not stated, so we do not claim it.
Passive
Torrent Shell is unchanged: +15 armor, +20 shield, and +40% damage below 40% HP. Base Defense rises to 80, but we have not measured how the game combines base stats with armor.
PokeBonk Wartortle matchups
Typing is still pure Water. Under the game code, Grass and Electric deal x1.35, Steel, Fire, Water and Ice deal x0.8, and everything else deals x1.0. The in-game help text promises x2 for super-effective hits, but the code uses the softer x1.35. The type chart lists all 18 types.
When PokeBonk Wartortle evolves
The step to Blastoise is derived at about level 44, per the game data and not play-tested, and it cannot come sooner than 3 levels after the first evolution according to the code. For most of a run PokeBonk Wartortle is your working form.
How to use PokeBonk Wartortle in a run
General advice, not a measured build: with no final evolution in sight, put upgrades into area and cooldown for Tidal Wave, since the wave clears space around you. The armor and shield from the passive keep helping, so low health is less of a plan here than for the Fire starter. Press R for the Ultimate when a crowd forms around you. Check the matchups below before you enter a zone with many Grass or Electric enemies. Visit the Pokédex for the other lines and the builds guide for upgrade rules.
