PokeBonk Ivysaur is the middle stage of the Bulbasaur line. This PokeBonk Ivysaur page covers what changes when Bulbasaur evolves: the second Ultimate tier, the stat jump and the level where Venusaur is expected. Everything comes from the game’s files as of version 0.8.13, and PokeBonk.gg is an unofficial fan site, so the official game at pokebonk.com always wins.

PokeBonk Ivysaur at a glance

  • Pokédex number 2, Grass and Poison, stage 2 of 3.
  • Base stats: HP 60, Attack 62, Defense 63, Sp. Atk 80, Sp. Def 80, Speed 60, total 405. Compared with Bulbasaur every stat rises, by 13 to 15 points.
  • It shares the family kit: Vine Whip, Razor Leaf, Sleep Powder and Solar Beam.

Frenzy Plant, the tier 2 Ultimate

The Ultimate name follows your current form, so PokeBonk Ivysaur uses Frenzy Plant instead of Furious Roots. The game describes it as eight roots and a ray of sunlight that heals you for 20% while the spores put nearby enemies to sleep. It is the tier text that mentions both a heal and sleep, which makes PokeBonk Ivysaur the stage where the Healer role is most visible. The final tier, Giga Flower Whip, belongs to Venusaur.

PokeBonk Ivysaur passive and matchups

The Synthesis passive carries over unchanged: +1.5 regeneration, +25% healing, and Grass hits that heal 0.4% of maximum HP, up to five times per second. Typing does not change for PokeBonk Ivysaur either, so the multipliers are the same as before: x1.35 from Flying, Fire, Psychic and Ice, x1.08 from Poison, Ground and Bug, x0.8 from Fighting, Water, Electric and Fairy, and x0.64 from Grass. These come from the code rule, which is softer than the in-game help text. Open the type chart for all 18 types.

When PokeBonk Ivysaur evolves

The code derives the step to Venusaur at about level 41, per the game data and not play-tested. After an evolution the game plans the next one for the later of that level and 3 levels beyond your current level in the code, so the second step never comes right after the first.

How to use PokeBonk Ivysaur in a run

Reaching the PokeBonk Ivysaur stage means you have survived the early waves, so the plan changes from staying alive to using the Ultimate well. General advice, not a tested build: fire Frenzy Plant when a group is close, because the sleep covers only nearby enemies, and treat the 20% heal as a panic button. The game’s glossary explains statuses and reactions.

The Pokédex lists the other 78 lines, and the builds guide explains the upgrade rules that apply to every starter. Together these facts make PokeBonk Ivysaur a short but distinct stage.

Frequently asked questions

When does Ivysaur get Frenzy Plant in PokeBonk?

Frenzy Plant is the tier 2 Ultimate of the Bulbasaur line, so it appears once Bulbasaur has evolved into Ivysaur. Eight roots and a ray of sunlight heal you for 20% while spores put nearby enemies to sleep.

How much stronger is Ivysaur than Bulbasaur?

The data file lists base stats of HP 60, Attack 62, Defense 63, Sp. Atk 80, Sp. Def 80 and Speed 60, a total of 405 against 318 for Bulbasaur. In-run numbers depend on the game formulas, which we have not measured.

Does Ivysaur keep the Synthesis passive?

Yes. The passive belongs to the whole Bulbasaur family, so Ivysaur keeps +1.5 regeneration, +25% healing and the Grass-hit heal.

Is level 41 for Venusaur confirmed?

No. Level 41 is our reading of the code and the data file, and we have not play-tested it. The game also schedules the next evolution at least 3 levels after the previous one.
