PokeBonk Charmander is the Fire starter of PokeBonk, the free browser game by Charcher, and the first stage of a three-step line. This PokeBonk Charmander page gathers what the game’s files say about its passive, its first Ultimate, its type matchups and its expected evolution level. PokeBonk.gg is an unofficial fan site, so the official game at pokebonk.com is the final word.

PokeBonk Charmander at a glance

  • Pokédex number 4, type Fire, role “Fiery Assault”.
  • Base stats from the data file: HP 39, Attack 52, Defense 43, Sp. Atk 60, Sp. Def 50, Speed 65 (total 309). Speed is its highest stat.
  • Move kit: Ember, Fire Spin, Flamethrower and Fire Blast, all Fire. A run begins with the first move, so PokeBonk Charmander starts with Ember.

The PokeBonk Charmander passive: Sea of Flames

In the data file the ability is Blaze, and the game shows the League passive as Sea of Flames in English (Mar Llamas in Spanish). The text is simple: below 40% HP you deal +40% damage, and Fire damage gets +10%. Unlike the Grass starter, PokeBonk Charmander has no healing or armor in its passive, so its protection must come from items and upgrades. We do not recommend staying at low health on purpose just to keep the bonus active.

Rising Blaze, the tier 1 Ultimate

At stage 1 the Ultimate is Rising Blaze: a column of fire engulfs you and bursts into a ring that burns and leaves the ground ablaze. In the game’s status table, Burn deals 30% of the hit that caused it each second for 3 seconds, which suits a fire ring that you stand next to. Blast Burn arrives with Charmeleon and Giga Blaze with Charizard.

PokeBonk Charmander matchups

The game code applies x1.35 to super-effective types, x0.8 to resisted ones and x0.5 to classic immunities, and limits damage you take to between x0.5 and x1.6. A pure Fire type therefore takes:

  • x1.35 from Ground, Rock and Water.
  • x0.8 from Bug, Steel, Fire, Grass, Ice and Fairy.
  • x1.0 from every other type.

Because of the softer numbers, Water enemies are an inconvenience rather than a wall for PokeBonk Charmander. The type chart shows all 18 types.

When PokeBonk Charmander evolves

The derived evolution level for Charmeleon is about 24, per the game data and not play-tested. The step after that, to Charizard, is derived at about 44.

How to use PokeBonk Charmander in a run

Verified from the game text: Fire hits burn, and the Ultimate is built around burning ground. General advice, not a measured build: pick damage and area upgrades first, because the passive adds Fire damage but nothing defensive. Compare it with the Grass starter if you want sustain.

Open the Pokédex for every line and the builds guide for level-up rules.
